Hi!
Today I want you to spend some time researching Charlotte Bronte, the author of Jane Eyre. She is an interesting author (perhaps not as interesting as Mary Shelley, but who could expect that sort of soap opera in every author!). Her biography is important because it definitely influenced her writing -- some say that Jane's life is a reflection of Charlotte's life. Be sure you write something unique -- not mimicking another student's writing -- and that you also read your fellow classmates' responses so you can learn as much as you can about Charlotte. In a later blog, we will compare Jane with Charlotte as well as explore the culture and time period in which Charlotte lived.

In May 1846, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne published a joint collection of poetry under the assumed names of Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. Although the book failed to attract interest (only two copies were sold) the sisters decided to continue writing for publication and began work on their first novels. Charlotte continued to use the name 'Currer Bell' when she published her first two novels.

So we all know that there was a good bit of tragedy in Charlotte's life. Well after her first two sisters died, she and her other siblings became very close. They all loved to create stories and stir their creative side of the brain. They created the imaginative kingdom of Gondal and wrote all kinds of epic stories and poems set in that realm. Charlotte and Branwell were in charge of Angria proper, while Emily and Anne (the youngest) ran the neighboring kingdom of Gondal.
I thought that was pretty cool.
Rev. A.B. Nicholls proposed to Charlotte twice. She refused him the first time, but accepted later even though she didn't love him.

Charlotte Bronte was the only one of her three sisters that was successful at writing novels...
Unfortunately, pretty much everything else has been covered.

The problem is that some people get on and list a LIST of facts, instead of just one, which does make it much more difficult to write something original. I'm sure there's SOMETHING new and exciting that hasn't been covered... and those little facts (she hated brocolli, she refused to wear dresses, etc.) are always the ones we remember anyway. (Please don't remember those, however, since they are not correct to my knowledge.)
Consider this one graded. Please, next time, folks, present scanty info rather than lavish info.
