Welcome to "Stump Your Classmates"
Hello!
It's your favorite time of the quarter, your chance to baffle the significant brains of the classroom, all your peers! Here's the deal. I'm going to write a test that includes (as usual), fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, and essay questions (and those other "AP" things, but we won't talk about that...), and the better questions you write, the more likely it is that I'll use them and the more likely that this blog will act like a study guide for the test.
So, have at it! Write two good questions from the text, focusing mostly on Scene 3 through the Exodus in Oedipus Rex, but also touching on material covered in the blogs (i.e. the various themes, symbols, or ironies we've mentioned). Clearly, some details from the earlier parts of the book will be represented because they are pertinent to the scenes at hand. Be sure to read the posts quicker-to-the-blog students have written first to be sure you're not merely echoing their questions. You will only get credit for fresh ideas!
Have a great weekend!
Love,
Mrs. D

Oh! Be sure to highlight your answers in some manner!
1.)What was Oedipus' false speculation as to why Jocasta stormed out of the room after hearing Oedipus' story from the messenger?
*** Oedipus thought Jocasta was ashamed to be married to him because he no longer knew his family line and was now the lowest of the low. However, Jocasta merely realized who Oedipus was in "relation" to her.*** (pun intended:)
2.)Who was genuinly concerend for why Jocasta stormed out of the room?
a.) Oedipus
b.) the messenger
c.) the Senator
d.) her fan bearer
*** the answer is C.
Oh yeah, sorry about the last blog comment, my computer wouldn't load the page. It said something like "Internet Error!" or something like that and wouldn't let me on.
1) What role does Fate play in the play?
A. Fate plays a huge role in the play, as it is presented as a looming spectre that cannot be escaped. Both Oedipus and his parents try to escape their fate, but they end up causing what they most feared to happen anyways.
2)What does Oedipus ask for his children, and how does Creon respond?
A.Oedipus wants to take his children with him in the mountains, to experience the same terrible fate. Creon decides to not banish the children and to keep them in the royal court.
Graded.
